Resolved Question: Ah, "those were the days"?
People are always talking about how much better, or how much more fun, or how simpler life was back in their youth. My grandparents said it to my parents, my parents told me (I'm 33) and while I don't have kids, I tell it to younger kids myself. How is that with continually evolving technology, innovation and inventions to supposedly make our lives so much "better", we're always joyously reminiscing of a time prior to those things, where we were actually, happier? Is mankind's possess arrogant need to advance and "know more", or "have more" responsible for these complications disguised as conveniences, or is our possess laziness the culprit? Or could it be that things weren't any "better", we just thought they were because we were younger and more carefree (blissful ignorance).

Open Question: Why can't modern white people be proud of their racism?
They are always afraid to be called what they are. Yet their ancestors were proud of their racism and oppresses other races for over a millennium. Without racism [which is to cheat, steal, lie, manipulate and murder en mass], white people would have no civilization or improved inventions to be proud off. So why can't these racist descendants be proud of their racism and ancestors? Or are they proud but they are lying to the world and keeping it like it always is behind closed doors? I think its number two because they grin so much and shake hands in contact when truthfully they are sociopaths who want to commit psychopathic acts like murder and hanging people from a tree.

Resolved Question: Tell me if this invention would be marketable.?
I am sure many people deal with the issue of constantly having to cary around a laptop power cable because you lose your charge. For example you have your charger upstairs but carry your laptop downstairs then you receive the message that your power is low and have to go receive your cable. my solution is to make a laptop that can recharge itself somewhat. The concept is nice of like a hybrid car. The laptop would be recharged by key taps or mouse scrolls. i will focus on key taps here. everytime you press a key down it converts that energy into power for the laptops battery. I do not yet know what devices could preform such a task or if the energy drawn would even be enough to charge it at every. i am assuming that from 2 hours of usage you could generate enough power for another 30 minutes or so. There could also just be an extra key you can press when you have nothing to type but desperately need the power. Would you be interested in such a product? do you think this is possible? i have already field for a patent, but it remains to be seen if it can be done in an affordable manner. If anybody would like to join in on this and has knowledge of the components necessary let me know. Thanks. i couldn't agree more with poster #1. i will be seriously smacking myself in the head when this is made by hp or something in the close future and i missed out on the opportunity to revolutionize the computer industry.

Open Question: Spiritually speaking: why does it matter whether something is natural or not?
There are quite a few people, especially religious people, it seems, who like to argue that certain things are wrong because they "just aren't natural!". (Examples: homosexuality, abortion, certain types of new technology, etc.) ..Of course this *usually* isn't their only argument. But I still don't think it should be part of their arsenal, PERIOD. And here's why: - First off, defining what is "natural" is somewhat difficult. One could easily argue that everything which is part of nature is, indeed, natural. Human beings are part of nature. So can anything we pick to do *really* be unnatural, then..? We created complex civilizations. We designed cars, oil platforms and complex computers. But considering we're a product of nature, and our inventions are a product of us, I think it is still perfectly justified to call such things natural according to my previous definition of the word. (Though of course there are other definitions as well.) - Second: If we were to be completely natural according to how SOME people prefer to define the word, we'd pretty much every have to be Amish, or something close to that. Are you..? I didn't think so. So why do you sit next to your computer, in your fancy, modern home with electricity and water pipes, complaining about how other people do things that "just aren't natural", then..? - Third: The fact that something is natural does not necessarily make it ideal. Birth defects and natural disasters, for instance, are both PERFECTLY natural, don't you agree..? But that doesn't make you like them or think they're a positive thing. Also, I'm sure you could list plenty of things you would categorize as both unnatural AND good. So the fact that they are unnatural doesn't have to mean that they're bad. ..So in my opinion, the question we always should be asking ourselves is simply: "Is this desirable for / detrimental to society?" Because whether it is natural or not, REGARDLESS of how you pick to define the word "natural" really has NO bearing on that whatsoever. Do you agree with me? Disagree with me? Why or why not? Oh, and if you agree: The next time somebody tells you that they're gay, for instance, and you want to voice how you think that's wrong/immoral, you can do better than saying "that just isn't NATURAL", right..? Try to tell people WHY you think their actions are bad for society, for once.

Open Question: Help identifing a painting of women riding bicycles in the 1800s. Saw it in American/European history textbook?
I cannot find a painting I remember seeing in either an American Government or European History textbook during high school (2004-2005). I remember the painting using very feminine pastel colors depicting maybe three women in traditional mid-tardy 1800s (or early 1900s) dresses riding bicycles in an idyllic country setting. The bicycles were adorned with garlands of flowers and the painting evoked serenity and elegance. It was included in the chapter as an example of an invention that gave women more freedom (in the form of increased mobility, obviously). If anyone knows which painting I am trying to describe, please let me know. Thank you.

Open Question: How to get grants for Green Inventions?
I am a mechanical engineer working on building a electric generator to reduce household energy usage. I have completed the design and need to buy some parts and need to have a few parts custom built. The parts needed are not excessively expensive, only a few thousand dollars for the whole lot. But it is a little more that I can spend on my possess. I work with machine shops daily and they are willing to give me very discounted prices for the custom parts, but even at a few hundred dollars each it adds up very quickly. I have looked around at many sites that say "grants for green inventions" but they are a bunch of hot air or they are bombarded with thousands of worthless requests so submitting would just be a waste of time. If anyone has any suggestions I am every ears. Or if interested, I am willing to fully design your idea, if you are willing to put up some money for mine.
